St. Jude Trail Ride raises $10,000

Maui’s Saddle Up St. Jude Trail Ride on April 13 raised more than $10,000 in donations for the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Memphis, Tenn.

Fifty-five horses and riders began from Thompson Road and proceeded through Ulupalakua Ranch to the Fleming Arboretum at Pu’u Mahoe for lunch.

Nate Holmes earned the first-place buckle, garnering $1,305 in pledges. The Thompson family of Thompson Ranch has organized Maui’s St. Jude Trail Ride for 21 years, generating more than $325,000 in donations.

All funds donated go directly to helping the children at the hospital who have cancer and other serious illnesses.
