Many Mahalos to Arboretum Volunteers

Mahalo nui from Friends of the D.T. Fleming Arboretum [FOFA] for a successful volunteer workday at the D.T. Fleming Arboretum. With good attitude and determination, projects were completed.

‘Ohe and Naio seed were collected for reforestation of the Kula State Reserve and Poli Poli Forest; Weed patches were transformed into botanical garden presentations; Repeated applications of Teak Oil helped preservation of the Arboretum’s burl-wood bench; Rebar caps were repainted and missing caps replaced; the Arboretum property fence-line was cleared of invasive Fire Weed seedlings. All Projects were completed!

Native Nursery, the nursery contracted to propagate seed for the Kula Forest Reforestation Project, received with great appreciation, one gallon each of fresh ‘Ohe and Naio seed. 48 hours of volunteer labor saved FOFA $960 in paid labor

Together Weed & Pot Club, the Maui Nui Botanical Gardens and Friends of the Fleming Arboretum [FOFA] have contributed to Hawaii’s oldest and largest native arboretum, assisting in projects helping the progress of the D.T. Fleming Arboretum, projects helping to assure the Arboretum’s importance for Hawaii and future generations.
