Aloha,

Attached is the information you requested regarding the Melicope knudsenii. After three years of waiting we finally had one seed germinate, which was very exciting.  The Alani will be ready for out planting this winter so whenever you are ready to pick it up let us know.

Media: black cinder fines (1/4″ to 1/16″) and then transplanted into Sunshine #4
Seed treatment: six day cold water soak (all 56 seeds), water changed each day in glass container with water just to top of seeds.
Days to germination: 1008 days (as of June 19, 2007)
Percent germinated: 1% germination as of June 19, 2007
Light: full sun in greenhouse.

Maui Nui Botanical Gardens has conceived YEAH! One healthy and beautiful:
Melicope knudsenii

Seed Treatment:   Seed soaked in water for 24 hours and scarified with sandpaper.
Planted: March 18, 2006
Germinated: May 5, 2006
– 1.5 inches tall or 0.04 meters
– Fertilized once with Miracle Grow*

Thus far no insecticides and or fungicides have been needed.
